Coronavirus Update: The Inside Vs the Outside

I would like to start off this letter by saying, we here at Stout Chiropractic, miss you! It is my hope that all of our patients and friends are well and that the time you have had to "shelter in place" has not been too negative but has been positive as well. At Stout Chiropractic, we are looking at the process of opening back up on a slightly more "normal" basis. After we were closed from March 17 -March 30, I saw a limited number of heavily screened, acute emergency and urgent cases. Now, I believe we can begin to build on this. Please be patient with us as we continue to require more time to ask questions and evaluate your case before you come in. How rapidly this occurs is not clear at this time, but careful patient procedures will assure safety for all involved. Here will be the protective protocol we use:

  1. One patient seen at a time, only seen at spaced, appointed times
  2. Patients are required to wear a mask
  3. Staff members who are sick, have been sick or have sick family are not allowed to work.
  4. Social distancing will be observed by all non-treating staff and patients
  5. Thorough cleaning of entry, reception room, restrooms and treatment areas are to be carried out between each patient with approved hospital disinfectant.
  6. All cloth or paper towels used for cleaning are to be discarded or laundered after one use.
  7. All staff in contact with patients will wear a mask to guard against respiratory droplet contact. Front desk staff use disposable gloves when handling money, credit cards and all items presented by patients.
  8. Numerous hand sanitizer receptacles placed around the office.
  9. Remain in your car until called. We will let you inside the office.
  10. No "extra visitors", meaning the patient alone should show up for the visit. No kids, parents, spouses, friends should come into the office with the patient with the strict exception of licensed care-givers. One patient per office visit. This will require drivers of, parents of, and spouses of patients to remain in their cars for the visit.
  11. Temperature taken of each patient before they are seen and every staff member at the beginning of the day. If anyone registers at or above 100.3 degrees they cannot be seen or, for staff, they have to go home until non-febrile
Let us help you stay strong in these next few months. Get checked here at Stout Chiropractic. We will make sure that stress and outside factors are not an issue as you begin to move forward. Additionally, speaking about what your body needs, this is a good time to really focus on the basics. Eat a balanced healthy diet full of lots of fruits, vegetables and lean protein. Consider a good quality multi-vitamin (we can help you with this). Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses/day). Get adequate sleep (7-8 hours/night). Try to walk, move, and exercise every day. Do not smoke. Do not drink alcohol or do so in moderation. There are a lot of things you can do that will give your body what it needs to stay healthy and vibrantly alive!

I don't want my patients to feel as if they are peeping their heads out of a hole to see if the world is safe, but rather to proactively live in the moment knowing they are well equipped to move forward confidently!

What originally drew me to chiropractic was the philosophy, clear and simple. This philosophy states that your body is self-healing and self-regulating and that in order to express health you need to give the body what it needs and to avoid the things that harm.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, as a healthcare professional I find that I tend to be too focused on things that may do harm! Does this sound familiar to you? However, it is very important to realize this and to balance the other side of the equation. The one that deals with what your body needs and the self-healing and self-regulating part. It is well known that physical and emotional health are intimately related.

As we come out of this crisis, we all need to be at our best to get back to our routines and to return to work. Your bodies are constantly adapting to the world around you. Changes in your physical environment and changes in your emotional environment require a response from your nervous system.

Chiropractic care is essential in the proper communication between your brain and the rest of your body. Everything from tight muscles, upset stomachs, headaches, tightness when breathing, rapid heartbeat, low energy and poor sleep ties into the brain and nervous system trying to adapt to its environment.
